We buy Paneer from the market and most of the time we need to store it for some days in the refrigerator. This makes Paneer hard and if we use it in our dishes then we don't get the yummy softness of the Paneer.

Step 1.  Take a bowl of water and microwave it for a minute.
Step 2.  Take out refrigerated Paneer(Cottage Cheese) and cut them into cubes.
Step 3.  Immerse the cubes into warm water from Step 1 for 5 minutes.
Step 4.  Drain out the water and take out Paneer(Cottage Cheese) cubes.

Soft Paneer(Cottage Cheese) is ready to use now.
If you don't have a microwave, just use gas to boil water and immerse Paneer(Cottage Cheese) into the water for 2 minutes and then remove it.

Note:-  Don't put Paneer for more time in the water or very hot water than required thinking that it will get more soften. It will only make the Paneer over soft and will start breaking when we put in the gravy.

  3. The Paneer I bought from the market, turned out to be too hard, but later I soaked it in water (Not wormed water as you suggested) The hardness became more 'rubbery', do advise...Ajeet Gorey

    1. Yes Ajeet it is always advisable to use hot water because cold water thickens the Paneer more. The more the thickness of the Paneer the more hot the water should be.
