I love the colors of the Indian Flag. Also, one more thing I love is Pasta. I was thinking to make something special for this special day & I came up with an idea of Tri-Color Pasta symbolizing the Tri-colors of India.

Tri-Color Rotini Pasta Recipe

Pasta is one of the favorite dishes among children & adults both. Try this special Tri-Color Pasta today & surprise everyone. It will definitely take some time to prepare but the results will be worth it. So let's start without delay.

We will be preparing WHITE, RED & GREEN Pastas separately & then at the end will consolidate all.

For White Pasta


Ingredients -
  • Tri-Color Rotini Pasta ( Select only white color pasta )
  • 1-2 tablespoon All-Purpose Flour ( Maida )
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 small Chopped Onions
  • 2 Chopped Garlic
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tsp Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • Salt to taste

Method -

Step 1.  Boil the pasta for 7-8 minutes depending upon its company & keep it aside. It is always better not to have the boiled pasta kept aside for too long as it starts getting sticky & loses its charm.

Preparation of White Sauce:-
Step 1.  To create white sauce heat 1 tsp butter in a pan.

Step 2.  Add all-purpose flour once the butter is melted.

Step 3.  Gradually add milk & keep stirring. You should not be having any lumps in the sauce. Regular stirring will help to avoid it.

Step 4.  Bring the sauce to the boil, & then simmer. You can add the cheese after it & allow it to melt. Mix it well & keep it aside.

Preparation of White Pasta -
Step 1.  Heat oil in a pan.

Step 2.  Saute onion & garlic till onions become golden brown.

Step 3.  Add the White Sauce & Pasta. Mix it well for 2-3 min more.

Step 4.  Add black pepper & salt to taste. Cook it for a minute more & done.
Your White Pasta is ready.

For Red Pasta

Ingredients -
  • Tri-Color Rotini Pasta ( Select only red color pasta )
  • 1 Chopped Red Pepper
  • 1 cup Chopped Cherry Tomatoes
  • 2 Chopped Garlic
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Pasta sauce  ( Optional )
  • 1/4 cup Walnuts powder
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tsp Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • Salt to taste

Method -

Step 1.  Boil the pasta for 7-8 minutes depending upon its company & keep it aside. It is always better not to have the boiled pasta kept aside for too long as it starts getting sticky & loses its charm.

Preparation of Red Sauce -

Step 1.  Saute chopped Red Pepper in Olive Oil. Add Garlic in it & continue to saute for 2-3 minutes.

Step 2.  Now add Tomatoes, black pepper & salt according to taste & mash it.

Step 3.  Remove the pan from the gas & let it get chilly.

Step 4.  Blend it to make a puree.

Preparation of Red Pasta -

Step 1.  Heat the Red Sauce in a pan. Add tomato sauce & pasta sauce in this puree. ( I have used pasta sauce to add little more taste if you wish you can escape this). Cook it for 5-6 mins till you get little thick consistency.

Step 2.  Add Walnut powder, Parmesan cheese & Red Pasta. Cook it for 2 more mins.
Your Red Pasta is ready.

For Green Pasta

Ingredients -

  • Tri Color Rotini Pasta ( Select only green color pasta )
  • 1 cup Fresh Basil Leaves
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley Leaves
  • 2 Chopped Garlic
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese Grated

Method -

Step 1.  Boil the pasta for 7-8 minutes depending upon its company & keep it aside. It is always better not to have the boiled pasta kept aside for too long as it starts getting sticky & loses its charm.

Preparation of Green Sauce -
Step 1.  In a blender, add basil leaves, parsley leaves, salt, black pepper & Parmesan cheese.

Step 2.  Once the mixture is little blended add olive oil & blend it again to get a smooth consistency.

Preparation of Green Pasta -
Step 1.  In a pan heat little oil & saute garlic for 1-2 minutes.

Step 2.  Add the green sauce & saute it for 3-4 more minutes.
Your Green Pasta is ready.

Final Preparation - Tri Color Pasta

Step 1.  Once we have all red, white & green pasta ready all we need is to decorate it & align it properly. You can refer to the picture for it.

Step 2.  Peel an onion to get circular layers. Using a perfect circular layer put it in the center of the White Pasta.

Step 3.  Serve hot & enjoy.

Note:- If you are not getting to try color pasta you can use normal pasta also. You can use the same recipe & add a pinch of food colors to give the pasta different colors.
