How to Stop Nail Biting

Have you seen anyone lately biting their own nails? Do you bite your nails sometimes? Yes it seems that its not a big thing but you may be unaware nail biting starts from a mild habit & can become a more serious problem. It can be seen in children & adults too. Nail biting is not only unhygienic but there are some common reasons like stress, frustration, boredom, loneliness & anxiety that are behind nail biting. Excessive nail biting can cause damage to your cuticles & can harm your teeth too.
Most of the cases people are not aware of their own habit & that is why it is very difficult to break it. First thing is to have an acceptance of the problem. Believe me it is hard but not an impossible task to get out of this habit. All we need is a little motivation and strong will power.
Today I am giving you some of the tips which can help getting out of this habit!!

How to Stop Nail Biting

1.  Neem Oil!

Put a little amount of neem oil on your nails using cotton balls & let it dry. Its bitter taste will stop you to bite your nails incase you bite it once next time you would definitely be more careful. Also it will keep your nails well as it is also an antiseptic.

2.  Nail Biting Polish!

Its one of the good options which you can find in the market. There are many nail biting polishes available in the market that are especially designed to help people quit the habit. Coat your nails with this polish & just like the neem oil its bitter taste will stop you from biting your nails.

3.  Trim the Nails!

Its a saying in hindi "Na rahega bans na bajegi basuri". Hehe don't worry I am not asking you to remove your nails completely. A good option is to keep your nails trimmed on a regular basis. It also helps to keep your nails look clean & tidy. Choose the right clippers for the job and after trimming, polish the edges with a nail filer.

4.  Regular Manicure!

Giving yourself professional manicure frequently can help you to break this habit. Get acrylic nails over your natural nails or jewels, patterns & textures by a professional manicurist will also prove helpful. The more beautiful your nails look, the more it will function as a deterrent. Also paying the manicure prices every time will keep you encouraged not to bite your nails often.

5.  Be conscious! Keep Your Hands and Mouth Busy!!

Next time when you are about to eat your nails just think for a second & ask yourself is it required? Best way is to keep your hands & mouth busy & be self aware of the things happening with you.
