Shakkar Pare Recipe | Diwali Special

Hope you are enjoying our Diwali Recipes and DIYs. Recently we have shared many Diwali Post like Roasted Poha Chivda , Instant Almond Rolls, Bangles Candle Holder, Pearls Beads Candle DIY etc. Today we are adding another classic festival recipe to our list. Whenever I see this dish my childhood memories comes back. I am talking about Shakkar Pare
Shakkar Pare is a well known recipe specially made during Indian Festival Season. People who have not heard about this, Shakkar Pare is All Purpose Flour items coated with Sugar. Lets see how to make this delicious recipe!!


Shakkar Pare | Recipe

Ingredients :-

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour (Maida)
  • 4 tbsp Ghee (melted but not hot)
  • Water as required for Dough making
  • Oil for Frying
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • Half cup Water


Method :-

For Pare :-

Step 1. In a Bowl take flour and Ghee, make a lumpy mix.
Step 2. Start adding water slowly and make a soft dough.
Step 3. Leave it for 10 mins but make sure that you cover it properly. Make sure it is air tight.
Step 4. Divide the dough in 3 portions. Make round Balls!!
Step 5. Take one ball and roll out into four to five inches diameter disk of medium thickness.
Step 6. With the help of Knife slice the disk in diamond shape (you can make any shape like rectangular, square).
Step 7. In a deep pan heat the Oil for frying.
Step 8. Once the Oil is Hot enough it is ready to fry. (Don't use over Hot Oil, otherwise they won't fry properly)
Step 9. Start frying these on medium heat, fry it till gets slightly golden.
Step 10. Remove the pare and let these cool down in the Room temperature.

For Sugar Syrup :-

Step 11. In non-stick pan add Half cup Water and 1 cup Sugar and start boiling. Keep Stirring.
Step 12. Keep boiling in low flame until the Syrup gets little thick. Check with your finger whether you are getting '2 String Consistency'. If yes means your Sugar syrup is ready.( As the syrup will be very hot please take care before taking a little into your fingers )
Step 13. Now quickly add all the 'Paras' into the syrup. Coat it properly.
Step 14. Remove from the Syrup and keep it aside to let it cool down. After few hours Sugar will get crystallized on Paras.
Step 15. Now you can store them in Air-tight Container.
Your delicious Shakkar Pare is ready!!
