Diya Aur Baati Barfi Recipe | Diwali Special

Today we are sharing Mawa Barfi [ Burfi ] Recipe with Step by Step instructions.

Wish you all a very Happy Diwali!!! Has that ever happened that you are all set to prepare one recipe and when you are about to start, you realized that you are out of some ingredients? Still, you want to make something special and then you came up with a totally New Recipe, which is extremely delicious. If yes then you can definitely connect with today's recipe. I wanted to prepare Coconut-Cocoa Burfi but unfortunately, Coconut Powder was out of stock at my home. I moved ahead and decided to use Almond Powder with a little twist. This Recipe turns out extremely delicious and Eye-catching. I named it as Diya Aur Baati Barfi and must say this time I nailed it!!! 😉 Lolz! Just Kidding!!😁 But yes this Recipe is pretty good and perfect for Diwali. Let's make it people!!!


Diya Aur Baati Barfi | Recipe


  • 1 1/2 cup Khoya (Mawa)
  • 1 1/2 cup Almond Powder
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Warm Milk
  • 2 tbsp Cocoa Powder
  • Yellow Food Color (I used 2 Pinches)
  • Pinch of Cardamom Powder
  • Few Almonds



Step 1. Take a Non-Stick Pan and saute Mawa on medium heat for 4-5 minutes till it turns light pinkish in color.
Step 2. Add Almond Powder and Sugar in the same pan. Keep stirring the mixture continuously until everything gets mixed well. Cook around 3-4 minutes!!
Step 3. Add Milk and Cardamom Powder in the mixture. Cook for 4-5 minutes more.
Step 4. Lower the flame. Separate 1/3rd of this mixture in a separate plate for Baati.
Step 5. In the remaining mixture add Cocoa Powder. Mix it well and cook for another 3-4 minutes and take this out of the flame. Your Diya Mixture is ready.
Step 6. Now in the Baati Mixture add Yellow Food Color and mix it well. Your Baati Mixture is ready.
Step 7. Let both the mixtures cool down till you can handle it.
Note:- It should be lukewarm otherwise giving shape becomes challenging.
Step 8. Use Diya Mixture to make round balls. Now take these balls and give them the shape of Diyas.
Step 9. Use Baati Mixture and make small tikkis and put them inside the Diyas as we put Ghee in the Diyas.
Step 10. Use Almond and put it vertically in the Baati. It will be the flame of our Diyas.
Your Diya Aur Baati Barfi is ready!! You can store them in Air-tight Container once it gets totally cool down and become stiff.
