Aloo Potli

Hi my beautiful friends :)
Potatoes is one of the favorite food from which we can prepare so many different recipes. Potatoes or Aloo is one of the most easily available food all over the world & this makes it a key ingredient for many recipes. Today I am sharing something Different & Creative which surely is a recipe to impress if you have guests coming at home. I am calling it as Aloo Potli.
Lets get started.

Khushi's World Aloo Potli

Aloo Potli Recipe

Ingredients :-

For the Filling :-

  • 3 tsp Oil
  • 5 Boiled Potatoes
  • 1 tsp fine chopped Green Chillies
  • 1 tsp fine chopped Garlic
  • 3 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 tsp Fennel Seeds / Saunf
  • 1 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds / Jeera
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder / Haldi
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 2 tsp Coriander Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp Chaat Masala Powder
  • 3 tsp Chopped Dry Fruits
  • 6 Green Onion long Leaves 


For the Dough :-

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour / Maida
  • 1 tsp Thymol Seeds / Ajwain
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Ghee
  • Water to make dough
  • Garam Masala for dusting
  • Oil for deep frying


Method :-

For Filling :-

Step 1.  Mash boiled potato. Add Red Chilli Powder, Salt, Chaat Masala & Lemon juice. Mix it well & keep aside.
Step 2.  Heat the oil in the pan. Add Cumin Seeds & Fennel seeds, then add Chopped Chilles & Garlic paste. Fry it till it turns golden brown in colour.
Step 3.  Now add Haldi , mashed potatoes , Coriander Powder and mix this mixture well. Cook for 5 mins, once its done keep it aside to cool down then add chopped dry fruits. Your Stuffing is ready.

For Dough :-

Step 1.  Take Maida, Ajwain, Salt & Ghee into a deep bowl & mix it well.
Step 2.  Slowly add water & start to knead the dough with the help of your hands.
Step 3.  Cover and leave it to rest for 30-40 mins.

Making Process :-

Step 1.  Roll out one portion of the dough & make balls.
Step 2.  Flatten each ball in your palm. Dust it with flour and roll out into a small diameter disk.
Step 3.  Filled the disk with your potato stuffing & give a shape of Potli.
Step 4.  Tie a knot on your Potli with the help of Spring Onion leaf & dust the Garam Masala all over the potli.
Step 5.  Heat the oil. Deep fry your Potli till it changes to golden brown color.

Your Aloo Potlis are ready. Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
