Dahi Vada Recipe

Hello my beautiful people!
In my hometown Dahi Vada is very popular dish. When it comes to Holi, Dahi Vadas is a must have recipe. After playing Holi for hours, this is a perfect snack which tastes delicious, fills tummy and beats the heat. And the best part is that it can prepared in advance so wives and mothers don't need to spend whole time in kitchen.
Usually Dahi Vada are made up of Urad Dal but I don't like Urad Dal much that's why I made my Dahi Vada with little twist. They are very easy to make and at the same time very delicious.

Dahi Vada Recipe

Ingredients :-


For Vada :-

  • Half cup Urad Dal
  • Half cup Green Gram Dal (Moong Dal)
  • 1 tsp Ginger Chili Paste
  • Half tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • Oil to fry
  • Water

For Dahi Vada :-

  • 2 cup thick Yogurt (Curd)
  • Sugar & Salt to taste
  • Pinch of Red Chili Powder
  • Pinch of Cumin Seed Powder
  • Date & Tarmarind Chutney
  • Pomegranate

Method :-


Step 1. Soak both the Dals for 5-6 hours.
Step 2. Once they are properly soaked, in Grinder, take both the Dals & Ginger Chili Paste. Grind it till you get thick smooth batter. (Try to avoid water or add very less water.)
Step 3. Now in batter add 1 tsp Salt & Baking Soda. Mix it well.
Remember once you add baking soda in battle then don't wait, start frying.
Step 4. With the help of a big table spoon, pour little-little batter on Hot Oil.
Step 5. Start deep frying Vada one by one . We want golden brown color, make sure you don't over fry them.
Step 6. Once you get your Vadas ready, dip them in Water for 10-15 mins.
Step 7. After 10 minutes, drain out all the water. Press Vada with your palms & squeeze all the water.
Step 8. Refrigerate them to cool down.

For Serving :-

Step 1. In Yogurt, add Sugar & Salt according to your taste. Mix it well to get smooth consistency.
Step 2. Dip Vadas in yogurt.
Step 3. Garnish it with Pinch of Red Chili Powder, Cumin Seed Powder, Date & Tamarind Chutney & Pomegranate.
Your Dahi Vadas are ready! Served chilled!!
